{"id":268,"date":"2020-10-27T09:00:43","date_gmt":"2020-10-27T16:00:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/srref.net\/archive\/?p=268"},"modified":"2020-11-29T16:47:49","modified_gmt":"2020-11-30T00:47:49","slug":"sacred-word-broken-word","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/srref.net\/archive\/2020\/10\/27\/sacred-word-broken-word\/","title":{"rendered":"Sacred Word\/Broken Word"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Thursday, January 03, 2013<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I finished &#8216;Sacred Word\/Broken Word&#8217; by&nbsp;Kenton Sparks&nbsp;&#8211; that along with&nbsp;Peter Enns&#8217; &#8216;Incarnation and Inspiration&#8217;, Christian Smith &#8216;Making the Bible Impossible&#8217; and Lawrence Boadt &#8216;Reading the OT&#8217; pretty much sums up the heretical view of the Bible that I now advocate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Actually, the Smith book is &#8216;The Bible Made Impossible&#8217; &#8211; he is referring to the fact that having unrealistic expectations of the Bible from inerrantist type positions makes the Bible actually impossible to read with any seriousness, as a result, it becomes kind of an icon or flag instead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kenton Sparks\u00a0An implication of my book is that all of us get something wrong.
