As to systemic evil, I’m referring to something like the Guinea Worm parasite, or maybe a case where an earthquake happens in a poor area, and all of the dwellings cave in, crushing the residents. You might abstractly view these as random, or something the theist is responsible for explaining. But the damage can be traced to ‘domination systems’ where the disparity between rich and poor means that the rich live free of polluted water and rattletrap houses, while the poor majority suffer. No one rich person is responsible – it’s just part of the system that the most well intentioned governments or revolutionaries seem powerless to change. I get this from Marcus Borg and Walter Wink. This view looks at ‘the Kingdom of God’ not as a post-mortem or post-planet thing but as a goal that she should be pursuing.
