Harry – ‘I’m kind of an agnostic on the question of the timing of creation. I think both the old earth and young earth people are misguided in seeking to defend their views either from an exegetical basis or, worse, from a scientific basis. I lean toward an apparent age view, in which case God could have created the earth 10,000 BC but it would look very, very old. Therefore, we would never expect the scientific evidence to bring clarity.

‘I see it as a miracle similar to the water to wine. Traditional methods of chemically testing the wine would certainly have concluded the wine was aged for years when it was actually only seconds old. ‘

I’ve been ruminating about this position. I think it is what Spark would call the ‘what me worry’ evangelical.
